Lekrings (category men) and Rubene (women) are the new Latvian Open 2011 champions! Lekrings added their 4th Latvian Open title to their Latvian Open success story, Rubene got its third title!

Latvian Open 2011 will be played in 3 different categories - men, women and veterans. 25 mean teams will create 5 groups, 15 women teams 3 groups and 8 veteran teams 2 groups of 4 teams each.

Coaching and refereeing seminars during Latvian Open

During Latvian Open, Latvian Floorball Union is organizing coaching and refereeing seminars with lectors from Latvia, Sweden and Finland. Coaching seminars will include following themes: Sports psyhology, leadership, floorball techniques, tactics, match analysis etc. Lecturers - Emil Persson, Stefan Hedlund, Anwar Samuelsson from Swedish Floorball Federation and sports psychologist Lāsma Lapiņa from Latvia. Referee seminar lecturers: Lauri Oksanen from Finland (IFF referee observer) and Lāsma Lapsiņa. Seminar language - english.

Valmiera is a city of about 28,000 people located 100 kilometers to the northeast of the Latvian capital of Riga and 50 kilometers south of the Estonian border.

Valmiera was founded in 1224 and is the largest city and cultural epicenter of the Vidzeme region.

Valmiera is home to a Latvian Olympic center which is appropriate for a town that has produced more than its fair share of Olympians. Valmiera is home to 1932 race walking silver medalist Janis Dalins, and more recently 2008 BMX gold medalist Maris Strombergs who became the sports first ever Olympic champion.

By plane: The closest airport to Valmiera is Riga International airport, the biggest airport in Baltic region which is situated 13 km southwest of Riga city.

Vidzemes Olympic Centre

The "Vidzemes Olympic centre" (VOC) was launched in 2005. Mission of the Olympic center is to become a centre of leading sport kinds, as well as a place for trainings, recreation and cultural events, where qualitative services for all of visitors are ensured.

Multifunctional hall has polyfunctional sport playing grounds. It is possible to divide it to three training areas in the same time. Total size of the hall is 44 x 68 m. Center field is used for Latvian floorball championship and different basketball tournament games with spectator capacity of more than 1500 seats. The hall can also be used for trainings, local, regional or international competitions, exhibitions and concerts. In the first floor there is also a conference hall, skates rental and hockey inventory shop "Hokeja pasaule". Also in first floor there is an ice hall with 58x28 m large hockey area and in second floor level stationary tribune is situated, which ensures 532 seats for spectators.

In the second floor there is a fitness club "Spēka pasaule", which is equipped with firm "Panatta" sports inventory, solarium, infrared sauna, massage cabinet, as well as physic cabinet, café "Sporta bārs", where you can have a meal and watch hockey area at the same time. Koceni Sports Centre

Sports centre „Kocēni" with total area 2514 m² is one of most modern sport constructions in Latvia's rural municipalities. Building of centre started at October 2004, finished at September 2005. Sports centre „Kocēni" complex is used for needs of Kocēni primary school graders and local floorball teams and enthusiasts, as well as Latvia multiple floorball champions - sports club „Kocēni" elite teams „Rubene" (man) and „Rubene" (women) home games and training arena.

Latvian Open 2011

I Organisers

Latvian Open 2011 is organized by Kocenu sports club in cooperation with Latvian floorball Union, Vidzeme Olympic centre and city of Valmiera.

“Latvian Open 2011” floorball tournament is officially recognized by Latvian Floorball Union and is marked as Elite club tournament by International Floorball federation (IFF). II Place and time

Tournament takes place from 19th – 21st of August, 2011 in Valmiera and Koceni (distance between arenas about 3km). Games will be held on 3 standard size fields (40x20). Field surface for 2 of them – Gerflor.

III Participants and Registration

In the International Floorball Tournament “Latvian Open” can participate teams of any level in three categories (men, women and 40+) that have sent their team notifications till 7th of August, 2011 to the e-mail: info[at]latvianopen.com. Registration form can be downloaded HERE. Registration fee is 250 EUR. Clubs, coming with male and female teams, get 50 EUR off the total price (450 EUR till 7th of August). Clubs coming with men, women and senior teams get 70 EUR off the total price. Minimal number of players in the team – 10 field players + 1 goalkeeper, maximum – 22. The team is officially approved for the tournament when it gets written (e-mail) affirmation from the organizers. Total team limit: 40!

IV Game rules

- All games will be 2x15 minutes in length (time being effectively measured). The interval between the first and second period is 3 minutes. No time out allowed in the group matches. There will be time provided for warm ups before each game (~10-15min).

- Players may only participate for one team in whole tournament. Only players listed on the roster submitted to the organizers prior to the tournament are eligible to participate. Teams fielding an ineligible player will automatically forfeit the match and potentially face further sanctions.

- Team line-ups are to be submitted to the secretariat 20 minutes prior to the start of the match. Upon completion of the match the captain of each team will review and sign the official game sheet.

- If both teams have similar color game shirts, the team listed as the away team in the official match schedule is obliged to change.

- The organizers retain the right to change the published match schedule. In the event of such a change during the tournament, the organizers will do their best to contact the teams affected, but it is the responsibility of the teams to check the official tournament notification board at both arenas.

- Match penalty 1 leads automatically to suspension until the end of the match in question, match penalty 2 to suspension until the end of the match in question and also for the next match, match penalty 3 leads to the player’s suspension for the remainder of the tournament. For each match penalty suspended player has to pay a penalty fee of 40,- EUR to organizers 20 minutes before his next match, otherwise he is not allowed to continue playing in tournament.

- The maximum waiting time for any team is 5 minutes following the scheduled start of the match, after that the default result will be 0:5. Any team forfeiting two matches due to walkover will be excluded from the tournament and all played matches will be annulled.

- After changing please bring your belongings to the court. The organizers cannot take any responsibility for the loss of personal belongings during the tournament.

- Protests should be delivered to the jury or to the hall secretariat in written form not more than 1 hour after the conclusion of the match being protested. The protest fee is 50,- EUR. In case of the protest being refused, the fee is not refunded. The protest will be reviewed by tournament organizers and their verdict is final.- Victory in group games gives two points for a win, one point for a tie and none for a loss.- A tie game in elimination matches will be followed by 3 penalty shots, if needed, penalty sudden-death.- There is a 30 second timeout allowed to each team in every game.- Not more than 20 players in each team during whole tournament.

1. MEN’S DIVISION

After registration is closed all teams will be divided into groups. Each team will be guaranteed 4 matches.

1.1. If two or more teams have the same amount of points after the group matches, they will be separated by:

• The amount of points reached in mutual direct matches,
• The score difference reached in mutual direct matches,
• The amount of scored goals.

1.2. Play-offs will start from 1/16 finals. Before the 1/16 finals, power ranking including 16 best teams will be made. First 4 teams automatically step to the 1/4 finals, 5-8th to the 1/8 finals. Rest of the 8 teams start their play-off with 1/16 final.

1.2.1 Power ranking will be decided according to these regulations:

Winners of 1/16 finals qualify for 1/8 finals. Winners of 1/8 finals step to 1/4 finals. Winners of 1/4 finals qualify for semifinals. Winner of semifinals meet in the finals, but losers of semifinals play for 3rd place in tournament. Groups and game schedule will be available on tournament webpage www.latvianopen.com.

2. LADIES DIVISION

After registration is closed all teams will be divided into groups. Each team will be guaranteed 4 matches.

2.1. If two or more teams have the same amount of points after the group matches, they will be separated by:

• The amount of points reached in mutual direct matches,
• The score difference reached in mutual direct matches,
• The amount of scored goals.

2.2. Play-offs will start from 1/4 finals. Before the 1/4 finals, power ranking including 8 best teams will be made. Group winners will take the 1st - 3rd place in the power ranking (according regulation 2.2.1), second best group teams 4th - 6th, two third best teams 7th - 8th.

2.2.1 Power ranking will be decided according to these regulations:

3. Seniors 40+

3.1 Participants

Teams consist of players, who are at least 40 years old at tournament start. One of the team members is allowed to be 35 and older at the tournament start. It is also allowed to include in the team ladies, who are 35 or older at the tournament starting time. If senior team consists only of female players, rival men team must play with 4 field players and goalie.

After registration is closed all teams will be divided into groups. Each team will be guaranteed 4 matches.

3.2. If two or more teams have the same amount of points after the group matches, they will be separated by:

• The amount of points reached in mutual direct matches,
• The score difference reached in mutual direct matches,
• The amount of scored goals.

3.3. Winners of 1/4 finals qualify for semifinals. Winner of semifinals meet in the finals, but losers of semifinals play for 3rd place in tournament. Groups and game schedule will be available on tournament webpage www.latvianopen.com.

3.4. Seniors 40+ tournament will be played in two days - 20th and 21st of August!

V AWARDS and OTHER

- The Latvian Open organizers will select winners in the following categories for each division:

• Best Forward  • Best Defender  • Best Goalkeeper

- Awards for Top scorers in each division will be provided by tournament organizers - Awards for "Best player of the game" in each match will be provided by tournament organizers.
